20 Leadership Habits to Break: Part II

Posted by Orrin Woodward on March 20, 2014

Here is part II of a presentation based upon Marshall Goldsmith’s book What Got You Here, Won’t Get You There. Leaders must break free from self-focus to truly lead others with a servant’s heart. Sadly, few leaders ever reach this ideal. Consequently, few communities reach their potential because everyone is protecting personal turf instead of serving others’ needs.  This isn’t just a corporate phenomena, as the same self-centered leadership occurs in charities, and churches. Nonetheless, this must change if North America truly wants to rebound from its economic malaise.

LIFE Leadership is this change. Teaching principles of leadership that have stood the test of time, LIFE is growing faster than ever. LIFE Leadership chooses to compete through serving customers instead of creating lawsuits, pyramid schemes, or leadership scams. If one truly wants to grow his/her leadership, then serving compensated communities is the best avenue. With world-class products to offer the world (Mental Fitness Challenge, Financial Fitness Pack, and Rascal Radio), LIFE’s future is bright.

Improve your leadership by breaking these bad habits and moving to the next level. Please share which areas you are working on.

Sincerely,

Orrin Woodward

Great blog Orrin – it made me stop and re-evaluate as to whether I’m doing all I can to be ‘a safe place’ for people to come to. I’m looking forward to the next installment!

This is an excellent blog. It brought awareness of areas I need to work on in my leadership journey, and there are a lot!! Because there are so many areas to work on, the first area is #3) Pass Judgement / say less. In LIFE Leadership, we have the best training available, so I have daily reinforcement for improvement. It gives me confidence that I can keep changing and improving. Thank you Orrin for all you do. And Laurie is an incredible leader!

Orrin, That Biting, Sarcastic, Tounge! Wow, definetly where I am working to improve. You said a bunch of stuff that I can relate to. I’m embaressed to say that years ago I actually told my wife not to get into a Cutting down match with me because she would never win! I said I was the Best and was Darn Proud of it. Shame on me! Thanks to the books and CD’s I’ve read I believe my Wife would tell you that I have truly improved. Oh I still slip now and then but nothing like before and I catch myself real fast! Thank You for the Great Reminder!

Orrin I am working not only on my teams always but on my relationships with my kids. Being a single father and working full time and building the biz it gets overwhelming and I carry it home.. My improving relationship with my creator is helping me sort this out and become a better father and student in the biz..

Orrin…this is great! It made me sit down and think about which areas I need to get better in. It is not soo funny when you suddenly realize …I have been slipping! 1. Adding too much value…I have been working on this …many times I wouldnt realize it until after …pattern interrupt time :). I work in an environment where “slicing an dicing” is the Culture again pattern interrupt time!! Stop judging and start encouraging!! Love this one because after reading and watching you made me realize I can encourage much more and get self out of the equation and focus on servant Leadership more. Thank you Orrin
