Business Is Relationships; Great Business Is Great Relationships

Posted by Orrin Woodward on January 17, 2013

I have taught the principle of going slow in order to go fast for years. This doesn’t mean build your business slow, but it does mean take the time to truly get to know your community. You can still go fast by having more people that you are cultivating relationships with and getting them around a community of winners. Sadly, however, many people rush through dealing with others, not understanding that all business is relationships and the best businesses have the best relationships. In fact, all of the LIFE business founders have a huge business because they are huge builders of deep relationships with their leaders. Below is a segment from a talk I did last year on the importance of relationships. If you want 2013 to be your best year yet, then start with building the best relationships today by applying the principles from the Top Five books and from the friendship chapter of my book RESOLVED: 13 Resolutions for LIFE. Enjoy the video.

Sincerely,

Orrin Woodward

I can’t wait! This year is my teams year baby, The Tribe Cincinnati is on the map and some freedom day parties will be in our group. I thank God our Lord and savior everyday for you and men like you Mr Woodward. FIRED UP!!! Go build those relationships and watch the people gather from miles around to watch you burn, cause you’ll be on fire in business and in relationships!

Thanks for that great reminder Orrin. I am often reminded that without first building a relationship with someone, I cannot have the “tough conversations” with them. Going slow to go fast is key to building trust.

    Great article!

    Orrin,

Thanks for the great reminder of the importance of relationships and the Top 5 books. Given our self-seeking society it is sometimes hard to remember that our main focus is to build others up first and that in turn will build us up to them.

Amen Orrin! Thank you! The saying people don’t care how much you know until they KNOW how much you care is sooo true! That’s why I love the heart of this business. Keep up the great work! Thanks for all you and the PC do! God Bless!

Love the principle & the statement of “go slow to go fast” because fast came happen at anytime and we need to be ready for it. If we take time to nurture & cultivate those relationships(old & new), be ready for the speed of growth to accelerate. All the books & CDs that come through our system has the tools to prepare $ cope with what comes. This all enhances our purpose and our why, to the extent that we have written down what we want to get done.
This has been an is a great continuing journey with all the new friends we’ve made along this journey creating a new extended family.
Thanks Orrin & the rest if the PC for the culture you’ve been able to develop on such a larger scale, for our country that has meandered off its path to help get it back on the right track.

Orrin! I just finished reading this chapter again last night, and it had opened my eyes once again. It is amazing how much easier it is to have success–as well as help others have success–when you cultivate relationships with your business partners. Some of my best friends have come out of my community of people, and I am so grateful that you have taken the time to help us understand this concept time and again. Pennsylvania is on the map, and we’re ready for an EXPLOSION this year! God bless!

Such a timely reminder! Remembering to protect peoples’ egos, I like the word picture you used of the pilot light. You know how those warnings on TV say, ‘do not try this at home’? It should read: Definitely try this at home! How easy it is to snuff someone’s pilot light out, and what a difference it makes when we learn how not to do that. Great post!

Wow Orrin you are so right and the relationships have been the largest blessing in all of are lives. Friendships that will truly go the distance with a speed of trust like no other. I thank God every day for being given the information to finally be able to make my own decisions and to have the mentors to help me along the way to keep me on track. To have the ability to think things through and be so much better at conflict resolution and to be having the time of my life. I Thank You and everyone in this business of Life for we need more good finders, up lifters true Leaders that show us the path allowing us the belief in ourselves to make the jump and allow us to build long lasting lifetime friend ships for as i have heard you say time and time again “we must be loyal to the few to be blessed with the many”.

God bless and we will you at the Major in Ottawa Ontario Canada we can’t wait.

Thanks Orrin, going slow is often deceived as no progress. Then over night things miraculously work. It reminds me to take the hard way first and life will get easier. I can’t tell ya how many normal life situations I’ve been thru this year that I wanted to take the easy way first. It’s a mistake every time. Slow down and “life” will get easier!

That’s funny, a few months ago I put a note that says “All business is relationships” under my computer monitor where I can see it every day. Trust me, i need the reminding. This post is so appropriate, thanks Orrin!

Orrin this post is pure gold!!! I too must continually check myself and work very hard to not mess this principle up as I build relationships with our community. Having been a general contractor for 25 years before learning this principle from the LIFE BUSINESS and TEAM leadership I was the proverbial ‘bull in the china closet” and I cannot express in words how it feels to get this right and truly care about and help the next person. I’ve learned from you guys that relationships will trump position for influence every time!!! God Bless,Bob

    God bless

It has been amazing to meet and get to know the people we are working with in the LIFE business and in all areas of life. We are excited to apply what you teach here more, to enhance current and grow new relationships because at the end of the day they are what matter most. Thank you for your constant blogging. I look forward to reading them and sharing them with everyone I can because they can have your thinking coming in all the time. Few leaders I have ever met are willing to pour in the hours of study and pour out the hours of investment into those who follow them in the manner and caliber that you and the rest of the PC do. Thank you!

  21. Great Post Orrin and Love the video!!

Thanks so much for the reminder, Orrin! I can fall into a hare-complex of wanting to go fast to go fast, and then get confused about why I’m stuck and everyone that’s going slow to go fast is passing me. I can’t hear “go slow to go slow fast” enough! Thanks for the post – it’s a great way to start the day. God bless!

I have learned through the LIFE information and example of the leaders how important relationships in long term business success. We want to know we matter, that we make a difference to someone and LIFE/TEAM gives us the stage to do that.
